Piñita Colada Special Edition from The Body Shop: How to trick the British Summer

The best way to remind yourself that it's Summer, even if it's raining in the middle of June, is to have a sniff at this new special edition from The Body Shop. It is called Piñita Colada, and believe me, it smells like summer!

The best way to start my day is to have a shower using the body wash from the line. It leaves me smelling of holidays for 10 minutes!

I've also been indulging on the body butter with the same smell after said shower. Love it. A perfect summery blend of coconut and pineapple extracts from the Caribbean that immediately take me to a holiday destination. As usual with The Body Shop's butters it is super moisturizing and the smell lasts for some hours.

To keep with the "get me all the summer theme" I've also been trying out two products from their make up line. The first one is the Instaglow CC cream. I love a hydrated and glowy look for summer, although I am not able to achieve it using this product only. The coverage is close to none, and I use it more as a glowy hydrating cream that also has SPF 20, great for sunny days! I'm using it in conjunction with other foundations and I like the result.

Another product I've been testing lately is the Honey Bronze Drops of Sun. With a syrupy smell, this one is perfect to bronze a bit your complexion without the damage of the solar rays. I add 2 drops to my hydrating cream (the Instaglow CC cream in this case) and it works great. Its matte-shimmer free finish gives my skin the perfect sun-kissed feel I want for a holiday glow, so I am using it a lot.

And finally, a summer scent from Polynesia: Polynesian Island Tiaré. Orange; Tiaré, frangipani and ylang-ylang flowers; coconut; and vanilla compose this luscious island scent. I recommend you go have a sniff at your local store!

A day in the countryside - The new Barbour fragrance

I'm like a little bee that wants to go out and smell all the flowers when the weather is this nice. We usually take the car and make a little road trip to escape the city.

Barbour is one of those brands that reminds me of green scenery and wet countryside adventures. So when I got this fragrance I couldn't wait to try it. Packaged in an elegant etched bottle, inspired by Barbour's iconic diamond quilt design, this fragrance has become a staple for me on Spring.

The fragrance is a blend of rose, jasmine and blush peony, complemented by musks and sweet vanilla, with notes of vetiver. I feel it's a fresh take on fruity and floral, and this is my favorite combination!

On this day out, I was wearing an Asos leather skirt, with an Undiz body (via asos). River island leather jacket and my Aldo boots. I hope you like the pictures as we had a lot of fun making them!

Review: Kiehl's facial oils, Daily reviving concentrate & Midnight Recovery Concentrate

I've recently become an oil advocate. As a result of a a teenage phase with oily skin and a face full of break out rashes I was used to run away anything oily and I was all about everything that would strip and dry my face. If you're yourself in this phase, let me tell you, stop while its not too late! I have now learned that oil is absolutely fine with combination skin (my type) and that it helps a lot with dry patches and the general condition of the skin.

I tell you all this because I've been testing 2 oil based products from Kiehls. I'll start with the very well known Midnight Recovery Concentrate

It is a pleasure to use this one! I use it after I've double cleansed my skin. The pipete style of the packaging makes you feel like you're pouring some magical concentrate on your hands. And 3/4 drops is enough. It absorbs quickly and with a matte finish. So the oils from your face won't end up on your pillow.

It doesn't give you a magical overnight result, but I feel like my skin likes it. The dry patches are gone, and I think my cheeks look plumpier in the morning.

The botanical scent (calming lavender) it's great to set the mood for going to sleep, so I've been loving this new step on my routine.

The oils include:

Evening Primrose: An effective on skin barrier repair and boosting radiance.

Lavender Essential Oil: It helps soothe inflamed or irritated skin while helping reduce skin blotchiness for a more even look. Creates a brighter and more radiant look to skin.
Squalane (Perhydrosqualene or perhydrosqualene vegetal): A signature Kiehl’s ingredient, Squalane is a botanical lipid that is similar in molecular structure to natural skin lipids. It has an exceptional affinity to skin, and because it’s easily absorbed, Squalane helps restore skin’s natural moisture balance to keep it extra soft and supple.

I have also tried the day version Daily Reviving Concentrate. This one is for revitalizing the skin throughout the day. Even though i also liked the application and results of this oil, I found putting more than 1 drop messes up with how my make up looks during the day. Specially now that it's getting warmer. I feel it really helps to give you a glow, but on my skin, I have to be careful as glow can quickly become oiliness. So I've reserved it for weekends or days when I don't want to wear make up. It is composed of lightweight oils and it dries completely matte, but I guess it doesn't get along with the make up formula.

I will try it daily again in Autumn when I know my skin needs an extra boost of hydration and care.

The oils included:

Tamanu Botanical Oil: It helps to reduce the appearance of daily damage as well as replenish and soothe skin; sourced from the nut of the fruit of the Tamanu tree, which is indigenous to French Polynesia.

Sunflower Botanical Oil: It helps to strengthen skin’s barrier; also known to improve skin smoothness, texture and hydration.

Ginger Root Essential Oil: It helps defend skin from free radicals and environmental aggressors with antioxidant protection.

These Kiehl's best selling facial oils are  now available for the first time in one set with a 20% discount!

Both products have been kindly sent to me for review.

Review: Lancome Juicy Shakers #bantheboring

One of the first things I change when the sun starts being more present and I start getting Spring feelings is the colour of my make up. I still stick to my usual winged eyeliner, but I go for softer tones on my lips and new brighter colors on my nails!

The latest Juicy Shakers from Lancôme have been a great discovery on this renewed everyday make up. They are very comfortable to apply, with an oily base that smoothes the lips, and a sheer pigment you can build up by gently tapping the cushioned applicator.

First thing to notice is that they look like cocktail shakers. They have a bi-fasic formula of oil and pigment that you need to shake before applying - like a cocktail. And I had never seen anything similar to this conical applicator. It is velvety smooth and also feels great on the lips.

First thing I noticed when I applied them, was that the first layer is very sheer. You can keep dabbing the applicator and get some more colour, that actually feels very natural.  Another thing I love is that you don’t really need a mirror to apply these correctly. So they are perfect for a quick touch up on the go!

It is one of those products you’ll want to have in your handbag, as you’ll need to reapply throughout the day. The formula has moisturizing and conditioning properties, and they are not sticky at all, so it wears off every couple of hours and there’s a need for reapplying. But it feels great to do so!

Lancôme have included four precious oils to smooth and plump the lips:

Peach kernel oil:softening and nourishing.
Sweet almond oil: to leave lips supple and re-structured.
Cranberry oil: anti-oxidant, protective and restorative of skin’s protective barrier.
Musk rose oil : regenerating and soothing.

I love that Lancome was able to give such a modern touch the their iconic Juicy tubes from 2000.

The full range of 14 shades is available exclusively in Selfridges, and on Lancome.co.uk at the moment for £18.

What do you think about these? Have you tried them?

Lip balms I adore: Clarins, Neal´s Yard, Maybelline

Keeping my lips hydrated and colourful has been very easy lately! There have been a couple of products I wanted to tell you about since they've been my saviours during this winter months when I feel every pore of my skin is asking for hydration and smoothines!

One of the stars I recently added to my collection have been the latest launch of Clarins: Instant Light Natural Lip Perfector. It feels very hydrating on the lips. Gives a hint of colour without having to use a mirror to apply it on, and it smells super sweet! Lips look plumped and feel hydrated! It's become a must in my handbag for regular touch ups.

I have two of them in the new colours: 07 Tofee Pink Shimmer and 08 Plim Shimmer.

Another saviour for this winter months has been the Neal´s Yard Bee Lovely Busy Bee Balm. This one doesn't have any colour and I usually apply it as a last step on my night routine. Once you warm it up a bit with your finger it applies like an oil on the lip. Helps with hydration and I also love the scent of this one: energising organic orange essential oil and honey!

Also , you're helping the bees with your purchase!

Finally, I also wanted to mention the lip balm that has accompanied me for years. Maybelline Baby Lips in Cherry Me. It´s just 2,99 and I just love how easy it is to apply. There are many more colours but I've used this one for years! To me it's a great way of adding a subtle touch of colour to a fresh look and the colour is buildable so you can add more and more if you wish.

What do you think of lip balms, do you love them too, or do you prefer lipstick? Let me know in the comments!
